Updating a Contact's Email in Salesforce

Whenever a contact at an organization leaves it may feel convenient to simply remove their email address and assign it to another contact who will be replacing them. However, if this process is not done correctly it will result in data corruption and an unpleasing experience for your contact.

In the event that an organization uses one email address for their volunteer coordinator or primary contact position, please follow the steps below to ensure the contacts are updated correctly in your system.

1. Change the old Contact Profile to None.

2. Update old contact email (In order to avoid duplicity of contact emails).

3. Update new contact email to set previous one assigned to old contact.

4. If it's needed update old contact profile to Volunteer, Partner Staff or Volunteer Leader.
