HOC Release Notes 3.0.10.13 (Sept 10, 2020)

This release features improvements in the display of forms and to prevent forms from being saved in a corrupted format that will prevent form from working.  There are additional performance improvements and internal fixes.  Here's the highlights:

Improved Validations when creating forms (HOC3-12468)

Improvements have been made to forms to prevent incorrect configurations that may result in non-working forms.  Users will be warned if a field is configured incorrectly before saving the field..

For example: You indicate a picklist field should "load options from Salesforce Field" but have no selected a field to map to.

Users will receive a validation message telling them how to fix things before they are able to save the field.

VPAT / Accessibility improvements (HOC3-12523)

Improvements have been made to some of the image HTML tags by adding the alt and title values to provide greater accessibility. These include:

  • Header Logo block
    • Add fields for alt and title
  • Social Network block
    • Add an automatic title and alt values using the name of the social media using "icon for {NAME}". Hence for Twitter will be "Icon for Twitter"
  • Featured Opportunity with images blocks
    • Add an automatic title and alt values using the name of the opportunity using "Image for {NAME}". Hence for Twitter will be "Image for Food Bank Helpers"
  • Search results with images
    • Add an automatic title and alt values using the name of the opportunity using "Image for {NAME}". Hence for Twitter will be "Image for Food Bank Helpers"
Bug Fix: Multi-picklist fixes in forms (HOC3-12602)

Multi-picklists used in sharing portal did not always perform as expected.  This has been fixed.  Also, when removing all values in a multi-picklist, the field will be properly updated.

Feature Retirement Notification:    "Receive from HandsOn Network" option in Volunteer Registration will be deprecated in 2021

in 2001, we will be removing the option of displaying  "Yes, I'd like to receive communications from HandsOn Network" from the Volunteer Regisration page.

HandsOn Connect no longer passes contact information from your data to HandsOn Network and so this checkbox has no real significance.  If your organization DOES wish to send contact info of your volunteers to HandsOn Network,  you can add a custom field via the ARS to capture this information going forward.

Checking this box updated the multi-picklist "Communication Preferences" in the contact record, with the value "Opt in for National Communications".

Harvest

Since there hasn't been any automation related to opting in for national communication and info has not been sent to HandsOn Network based on this setting, this optional setting for the volunteer registration will be removed during the first quarter of 2021.

Any HOC client with questions or concerns about this announced feature retirement, please open a support ticket to discuss its impact on your organization.
